- 地方知县互相勾连，胥吏阳奉阴违，乡绅犹同恶霸，主持公道的巡按巡抚不过是为了履历风光，为官之人不为民而为己，这是比扫黑除恶更高级的官场现形记。
- 除了开头大闹赌场有些程式化，结局太理想化，给主角的特写镜头太多，其他都蛮好。主题好，内容好，干巴巴的数字讲得清楚明白，案件陈述有法庭戏的精彩，配角都好。衣裳有布有葛，有丝有绸，层次分明。还有一点不足，室内植物配置不当，炒豇豆里出现了干辣椒，辣椒虽然万历年间已经进入中国，但成为食物还时日尚早；池塘边的石头缸里种了凤眼蓝，凤眼蓝原产巴西，1844年首现美国博览会，1901年台湾从日本引进，1930年被当作畜禽饲料引入我国内地。大明朝的子民不会在水缸里种“水葫芦”。
